Starbucks Upgrades, Google Partnership Should Leave Regulars Smiling

As more and more people treat their nearby coffee shop as their office, upgrades coming at the most famous coffee shop chain of them all should add a skip in the step in the soy-latte sipping crowd. 

Starbucks is partnering with Google in a deal that will offer customers dramatically faster Wi-Fi. Starbucks are popping up around Iowa's bigger population centers. 

The Des Moines area leads the way with 18 Starbucks, and Cedar Falls, Iowa City, Ames and Cedar Rapids area all have a handful of locations. Starting in August, new U.S. company-operated Starbucks stores will begin to receive up to 10 times faster network and Wi-Fi speeds. And over the next 18 months, Starbucks will convert more than 7,000 U.S. stores to the upgraded service.

Starbucks says the improvements will help ensure that its customers can easily access the Internet.
