Summerfest celebration in Campustown on Saturday

Campustown
Action Association is proud to present the third annual FREE
Summerfest
celebration
in Campustown on Saturday, June 8 from 12pm to 9pm on Welch Avenue.
The celebration will begin at noon at the Campustown Clock Tower at
Chamberlain Street and Welch Avenue with the Summerfest
5K Fun Run/Walk, presented by Kingland Systems
,
through the ISU Arboretum and the ISU Cross Country course.
Performances on the Community Stage will begin at 12:30pm and include
professional dance troupe Co’Motion, singer Lady Soal, the
Isiserettes drum core out of Des Moines, and the band Mumfords. The
Brazilian 2wins perform on the Main Stage from 6pm-9pm. All
activities will be in the 200 block of Welch Avenue in Campustown.
Free
children’s activities and a classic car show

are also a part of this year’s celebration. The Ames Area
Astronomy Club is back with demonstrations in the Battle’s Barbeque
parking lot. A beer garden will be available for guests 21 and
older. Registration is available online at www.amescampustown.com
for the Summerfest Fun Run/Walk-fees are $25 for advanced
registration and $35 for day of registration.

children’s activities include: story time with the Ames Public
Library, Dogtown University Bingo, a Marshmallow and Spaghetti
Sculpture Contest by Haila Architecture, MU Workspace button making,
Krispy Treat decorating by The Fighting Burrito, games by Perfect
Games, and more! Summerfest is supported by the Ames Community Grant
Program.
