TJ Maxx Opening Earlier Than Planned

TJ Maxx, a discount fashion store, will open earlier than originally announced. The store plans to celebrate its grand opening March 3, according to company officials.

The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on its first day. Regular hours are 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.

The 24,000 square foot building is found in a strip between the Kohl's Department Store and the North Grand Mall.

Kohl's also plans to open March 3. Shoe Carnival has planned a March 16^th opening, according to a release from SCGlobal. Together the stores will employ more than 200 people. Kohl's planned to employ 150 people and TJ Maxx said it will add 60 full and part time jobs to the area.

Their opening will be celebrated with a fireworks display set for 6:30 p.m. March 7.

Ames City Council approved a redevelopment plan for the mall in January that made the stores' openings possible.
