U.S. Senate Candidate in Ames Thursday

Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Matt Whitaker will speak Ames 7 a.m. Thursday at the Ames Area Conservative Breakfast at the Pizza Ranch, 1404 Boston Ave.
Whitaker, a Des Moines attorney and former US Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa from 2004 to 2009 officially announced his candidacy in Ankeny on Tuesday where he said he is worried about the country's future.
“I’m not sure I can look my kids in the eye and honestly say in our country there will be better days,” Whitaker said according to a report in the Gazette.
He also spoke about the nation's growing debt.
Whitaker will be joined by, Barry Snell, a former Iowa State Daily columnist and vice speaker of the Senate for the Government of the student body at Iowa State University. Snell will also make a brief speech.
Anyone choosing to attend the breakfast will have to pay for their own meal and drink.
