What's Open, What's Closed in Ames on the Fourth of July

July Fourth closings in Ames. And what will be open July 4.

The City of Ames will host its usual events on the Fourth of July and a Chamber group will present fireworks on Friday July 5.

CLOSED

All U.S. post offices. No mail will be delivered or collected.

Ames City Offices will close for the Fourth and reopen on July 5.

Ames Public Library and the Bookmobile will be closed July 4.

Heartland Senior Center will be closed July 4 and open on July 5.

Chitty Garbage will be closed Thursday, July 4. The holiday garbage collection schedule will be in effect through Saturday July 6. So Thursday's garbage route will be picked up Friday. Friday and Saturday's garbage route will be picked up on Saturday. Find more on the holiday schedule on Chitty's site.

CyRide buses will not run on July 4.

Ames Fareways will be closed.

Most banks will be closed. Thursday is a U.S. bank holiday.

Iowa State offices are closed; including all drivers license stations.

Federal offices are closed.

McFarland Clinics will be closed July 4.

OPEN

Furman Aquatic Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for adult water walking, lap swim and tot time. Open swim hours will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on July 4.

North Grand Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Fourth.

Ames Hy-Vees will be open.

McFarland Clinics After Hours Clinic at Family Medicine East Office, 1018 Duff Ave. will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fourth of July fireworks show will be held Friday July 5, but all other festivities including the free pancake breakfast, Fourth of July Parade & Festival, and Friendship Ark Homes for the annual 5K on the 4th will take place on Thursday July 4.

The evening Ames Municipal Band Concert will also take place as usual on July 4th.
