Alcohol May Be Involved in Motorcycle/Pick-Up Crash That Sent 2 to Hospital by Helicopter

From Black Hawk County Sheriff's:
On June 22, 2013 at approximately 9:35pm, deputies received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and pick-up truck on Dubuque Road east of South Canfield Road.Â
When first responders arrived on scene they found a motorcycle with both of its passengers in the north ditch. Derek Lee Martie (24 years old) and Katlyn Leekley (20 years old) both of Jesup were stabilized at the scene. One victim was transported by ambulance and the other by helicopter to Covenant ER. Both victims were then airlifted to Iowa City Hospitals from Covenant.
The driver of the pick-up truck, Bryan Allen Cornwell (22 years old) of Oelwein, Iowa; was taken into custody 8 miles further down Dubuque Road on suspicion of Operation While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident. The investigation continues and additional charges are pending.
The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Iowa State Patrol, Jesup PD, Evansdale PD, Jesup EMT and Fire, Dunkerton Ambulance and Covenant AirCare.
