CBD oil has been undergoing controversy the last several years. CBD oil does have some medical benefits for a number of conditions.

One of the most controversial topics in the last few years has been the use of CBD oil for treatment in patients. CBD oil has been around for thousands of years treating ailments in a wide variety of cultures around the world. Today’s modern science practices are taking a step further into the study of CBD oil and how it can positively affect the patients that take it and manage pain and other symptoms.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD is an extraction of a compound called Cannabidiol (CBD) usually from a hemp plant that it put into a carrier oil and then officially called CBD oil. CBD is classified as a cannabinoid along with another familiar compound THC. Unlike THC, CBD does not induce a psychoactive effect when it is ingested. CBD does not give you a “high” feeling rather works within the body to reduce inflammation among other things. CBD is commonly extracted through industrial hemp which has a higher concentration of CBD than a marijuana plant. The body produces its own cannabinoids called endocannabinoids (ECS). CBD oil is often used to supplement the bodies own ECS or make up for the lack of ECS in a person's body.

Treatment

CBD oil is known for being used in treating patients with a multitude of different diseases and various situations. The most common use is the management of pain in patients. CBD is administered to people with arthritis and chronic pain. CBD interacts with the immune system and the brain to produce anti-inflammatory and pain-killing effects. There have been recent controlled studies on how CBD oil effects epilepsy and seizures in children. The research is ongoing, but recent results have shed a positive light on CBD oil and its potential health benefits. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is another disease that CBD oil can help manage. Muscle spasms are a common occurrence in patients with MS. CBD oil is shown to reduce the amount of spasm a patient has but further research is needed to confirm this.
