Updated: Cedar Falls School Board Election Results
Seven people vied for three open Cedar Falls School Board seats in Tuesday's election.

According to the unofficial results, Jim Brown and Susan Lantz have been re-elected to the Cedar Falls School Board, and newcomer Doug Shaw will fill the third open seat.
Here are the unofficial vote totals as of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday:
Â
Jim Brown: 1466 votes, 20%Â
Doug Shaw: Â 1210 votes, 17%
Susan Lantz: 1146 votes, 16%
Jim Moody: 1130 votes, 16%Â
Deborah Giarusso: 1062 votes, 15%
Sarah Eastman: 814 votes, 11%
Jozsef Gitta: 458 votes, 6%
There were a few reports of precincts running out of ballots during the day. Some voters cast their ballots on photocopied ballots, which had to be hand-counted.Â
The need for the extra ballots was partly due to a relatively high turnout of around 9 percent of registered voters, compared to less than 3 percent two years ago.
Black Hawk County election officials said the issues were also due in part to the new voting stations. Voters were free to vote at any of four polling locations instead of their neighborhood precincts, which made it difficult to estimate the number of ballots for different Hawkeye Community College districts that would be needed at each location.
Current school board president Deon Senchina's term is ending, and she chose not to seek re-election.
Renewal of a funding levy for Hawkeye Community College also appeared to have passed. In the community college's district 9, incumbent Dave Krejchi won over Ron McLaughlin with 68 percent of the vote.
