Gas Leak Near McDonalds Leads to Evacuation in Cedar Falls

A gas line near the First Street McDonalds in Cedar Falls led to a brief evacuation west of downtown Tuesday.
Police told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier and KWWL a gas line was struck near the restaurant at 610 W. First St., which is closed and undergoing a renovation.
Homes and businesses in a one-block radius around the site of the leak were evacuated for about 15 minutes between 3 and 4 p.m.

No one was injured and there were not gas ignitions during the incident. Cedar Falls Utilities shut off the gas line and are repairing the leak.
