NFL Draft Pro Day 2013: Northern Iowa's Terrell Sinkfield Wows with 40-Yard Dash Time

Former Panther Terrell Sinkfield ran the 40-yard dash in stunning time on Monday.

If you follow Northern Iowa football, you probably know Terrell Sinkfield is fast, but even Panther fans have to be a little surprised by his performance this week.

Sinkfield, a senior at UNI and a former Panther receiver, was participating in a pro day on Monday at the University of Minnesota, where NFL scouts get a feel for the players available in the NFL draft..

That's also where Sinkfield ran the 40-yard dash in 4.19 seconds, according to an ESPN report. For those keeping score, that is really, really fast.

"I knew it was good when I finished," Sinkfield told FoxSportsNorth.com, which first reported the story. "I was pretty happy, so I came back. I thought I messed up when they said go again. I'm like, 'Dang, why do I have to run again?'"

ESPN reports that would be the fastest 40 time at the NFL combine since 2006.

Who knew Sinkfield was so fast?

Scouts were so stunned they had Sinkfield run the dash a second and third time. There's some dispute if the timer was accurate, because at least one scout said time was higher than what he recorded, ESPN reports. Sinkfield stumbled on one of his other attempts, bringing him to a three-run average of 4.3 seconds.

"I was trying to shoot for a 4.19. I knew it was good when I finished," Sinkfield told The (St. Paul) Pioneer Press. "The fastest I've done [before Monday] was 4.2. I was running 4.3s in high school."
