Police: Burglar Feels Bad, Tries to Return Goods Taken from Sleeping Woman

A Cedar Falls man was arrested after returning prescription pills that he previously took from a sleeping woman, according to a police report.

Patrick Devore, 24, of 2010 Center St. No. 11 in Cedar Falls, faces a second-degree burglary charge, which is a class C felony, for entering a woman's home on June 8, according to the report.

The victim, Donna Smith, told police she was asleep in her bedroom when she awoke to discover someone had take some of her prescription medication, according to the report. She said Devore later returned to give back some but not all of the pills, according to the police report.

Devore told police he gave the pills to his brother, but later "felt bad" and asked his brother to bring them back, according to the police report. According to the report, Devore admitted entering the residence and taking the pill but there's discrepancy about whether or not the door was locked.
