Rollover Crash Sends Cedar Falls Man to the Hospital
Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies responded to the area of University Avenue and Viking Road on a report of a single vehicle rollover accident just before 3 a.m. Monday.

A Cedar Falls man was hospitalized after an early Monday morning car crash.
Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies responded to the area of University Avenue and Viking Road on a report of a single vehicle rollover accident just before 3 a.m. Monday.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 driven by Joel Hackman, 27, of Cedar Falls, was traveling north on University Avenue when it failed to make the curve near the intersection with Viking Road.Â

The Camaro left the roadway and entered the northwest ditch. It then struck the embankment on Viking Road and rolled coming to a rest on the north side of the intersection, partially in the cornfield, authorities said. Â
A passenger, Jamie Hackman, 20, also of Cedar Falls, escaped with minor injuries. Joel Hackman was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Cedar Falls Fire Rescue. He was then transported to Covenant Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted by Cedar Falls Fire and Ambulance and the Cedar Falls Police Department.
