Sub-Zero Temperatures Continue

As eastern Iowa schools recuperate and hope to finish the week, The National Weather Service reports more extreme cold this week, including a Wind Chill Advisory tonight until 9:00AM.

In a frigid weather outlook issued Wednesday night, the National Weather Service said that temperatures will drop to double digits below zero tonight with wind chills around -30. Temperatures rise Thursday, only to drop below zero again overnight.

The forecast for the eastern Iowa area showed the following:

• With a high in the upper teens Thursday, winds up to 30 mph will result in wind chills as low as -25.
• Thursday night, temperatures will get down to around zero, with wind chills staying around -20.

• Single digit high Friday and a low of around -10, again with wind chills much lower.
• With a high in the low 20s Saturday and a low in double digits, there may be some relief coming.

Bundle up with gloves and hats. Continue to check your car’s tires and keep the gas tank from getting to low. The last thing you want with temperatures this low is to spend time working on your car on the side of the road.
