UNI to Celebrate Renovated and New Dining and Living Spaces

The number of upperclassmen living on campus at the University of Northern Iowa is on the rise. UNI is meeting the needs of this influx of residents thanks to the addition of more than 128,000 square feet of living, dining and lounge space. A celebration of the grand reopening of Redeker Center and the dedication of Panther Village Phase II will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Redeker Center. A short program will begin at 2:05 p.m., with refreshments and tours of the new spaces to follow.

The newly renovated Redeker Center features the addition of 300 seats in the Piazza dining center, an expanded floor plan in Biscotti's convenience store, the inclusion of student office space for the Residence Hall Association and a new 24-hour computer lab, for a total of 14,000 additional square feet.

Panther Village Phase II makes room for 246 more students in the popular apartment-style residence hall, with the addition of 114,500 gross square feet. Each apartment comes furnished and features private bedrooms, a shared kitchen with appliances and a shared living room. In addition to new living spaces, the Panther Village courtyard features new basketball and sand volleyball courts.

More than 4,300 students live on campus at UNI across more than 1.5 million square feet of real estate. The new additions to Redeker Center and Panther Village provide students with the social and academic advantages of living on campus and the benefits of independent, apartment-style living.
