Waterloo Sears To Close In April, Company Announced
Sears Holdings also announced today it would close Kmart stores in Urbandale and Read Oak in mid April.

Sears Holdings announced another round of store closings today and the Waterloo Sears store at Crossroads Mall is among 64 Kmart and 39 Sears stores that will close in March and April. Employees were notified of the closings today.
Three Iowa stores will close. In addition to the Waterloo location, the company will shutter Kmart stores in Red Oak and Urbandale. All are expected to close in early April.
The company said it is continuing its "strategic assessment of the productivity of our Kmart and Sears store base and will continue to right size our store footprint in number and size." The company said the stores closing have not been profitable.

"We will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that
our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members," the company said in its announcement.
The company said its eligible associates who are affected by the store closures will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area Kmart or Sears stores. Liquidation sales will begin as early as Jan. 12 at the closing stores.
