Where Food Comes From, Inalienable Rights and Bob Dylan Topics of UNI's Lifelong University
Anyone can enroll in the Lifelong University's noncredit courses. Course fees range from $20 to $40, which cover parking passes and course handouts.

The University of Northern Iowa's Lifelong University will offer four noncredit courses this fall.
"Where Does my Food Come From?" will be led by Jenny Bruss, program and community outreach coordinator for UNI's Recycling & Reuse Technology Transfer Center, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25, at UNI's Center for Energy & Environmental Education, Room 12. Participants will learn how to grow their own food with hands-on activities, discuss nutrition ideas for healthy living, prepare and sample dishes from the garden and more. "On Our Inalienable Rights" will be taught be Hal Wohl, emeritus professor of history, from 10 a.m. to noon, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, at Western Home Communities, 5300 S. Main Street, Cedar Falls. Wohl will address the American tradition of rights from both a historical and contemporary perspective, with an emphasis on current controversies.
John Johnson, professor of history, will lead "The Music of Bob Dylan: The Early Years" from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15 and "Bruce Springsteen's America" from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Western Home Communities. Each course will offer an analysis of the music and lyrics of both musicians and how their songs related to significant events and themes in America's past.
