Teen Cited After Drone Cuts Baby In Face At Iowa Park

The baby had to get stitches on his cheek and lips after being hit, The Des Moines Register reported.

BETTENDORF, IA — A 19-year-old man has been fined after a baby who was struck in the face with a drone at an Iowa park suffered cuts to his face, according to reports.

Police in Bettendorf, Iowa, said the 1-year-old and his mother were at a playground in Bettendorf last month when the child was hit. According to police, the child was injured when two people who were operating a drone nearby lost control of it.

Police were asking for the public's help in finding the two people who were operating the drone and announced on Monday that they had identified those responsible.

Bettendorf police told The Des Moines Register that a 19-year-old man has been issued a civil citation and will pay a $160 fine for flying the drone.

The two men flying the drone came over the apologize after the baby was struck, the Register reported. The boy's mother was focused on getting him to the hospital and didn't get their names. The boy had to get three stitches on his cheek and two in his lips, according to the Register.
