Two Davenport Men Arrested Following Shooting

Jaterius Davis and Jatavius Davis have been charged in connection with a shooting that injured a woman on Saturday.

DAVENPORT, IA — Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting Saturday afternoon in which one person was injured. The incident happened in the 1600 block of West Tenth Street.

Davenport police said a 911 caller stated that someone who had been shot was being transported to Genesis West Hospital. Police arrived at the hospital to find the vehicle described, a light-colored Saturn, and a man carrying a woman from the vehicle to the emergency room, according to KWQC-TV.

The victim's injuries were non-life-threatening.

The man got back to the vehicle, which fled and led police on a chase before one man jumped out and ran, the TV station reported. Police later caught the driver and passenger and found two handguns.

The men arrested, Jaterius Davis and Jatavius Davis, are both from Davenport. Jaterius Davis was charged as a felon in possession of a firearm; Jatavius Davis was charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to KWQC.

The shooting remains under investigation.
