Victims Identified In Fatal Davenport Trailer Fire

A mother and two children lost their lives when their mobile home caught on fire last week.

DAVENPORT, IA — The three victims of a fire at the Five Seasons trailer park on Thursday have been identified. Two other children who were injured in the fire remain hospitalized in Iowa City, authorities said.

The fire, which broke out around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 21, claimed the lives of Kelsey Clain, 23, and her children, Jayden Smead, 5, and Carson Smead 2.

Investigators looking into the fire have not yet determined the cause. The Des Moines Register reported the trailer did not have working smoke detectors, which could have led to a delay in alerting the victims to the fire.
