DES MOINES, IA — Two new members will join the Des Moines City Council at the first meeting of 2018. Connie Boesen, at-large representative, and Josh Mandelbaum, Ward 3, will be welcomed to the council with a reception from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday.
The council is currently meeting on the second floor of the Municipal Service Center, 1551 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. A swearing-in ceremony for Boesen and Mandelbaum, and re-elected Ward 1 councilman Bill Gray, will precede the council meeting at 4 p.m. The regularly scheduled council meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Boesen and Mandelbaum were elected to the council in November. Mandelbaum won an open seat that was formerly held by Christine Hensley, who chose not to seek re-election. Boesen defeated two-term incumbent Skip Moore.
