Dangerous Wind Chills Will Cause Late School Starts Thursday
Classes will begin two hours late in a number of central Iowa school districts Thursday and some morning programs will be canceled.

DES MOINES, IA — Continued cold and dangerous wind chills will lead to another late start in classes throughout several central Iowa school districts Thursday morning. In addition, the Des Moines Area Religious Council's Mobile Food Pantry is closed Wednesday night, Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon.
The following school delays have been announced as of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday:
Ames Schools: 2-hour delay, no morning preschool

Des Moines St. Anthony School: 2-hour delay, no morning preschool, no morning Adventure Club
Des Moines St. Augustin School: 2-hour delay, no morning preschool
Des Moines St. Joseph's Catholic School: 2-hour delay, no morning preschool
Indianola Schools: 2-hour delay, no morning preschool
New Horizons Academy: 2-hour school delay, regular daycare hours
North Polk Schools: 2-hour delay, no morning preschool
