Date Ends Badly When Woman Finds Man Left To Break Into Her Car

Worst date ever? A Cedar Rapids man was charged with burglary after leaving his date to break into her car and steal money and a phone.

IOWA CITY, IA — It's a good sign a date isn't going well when the person you're with leaves you alone in a bar — then goes out to break into your car. That's how a date ended recently for one woman, according to a police report.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported today that the woman was on a date with a man in downtown Iowa Cityand he left her alone in a bar. When she couldn't locate him, the woman headed to her car in a nearby parking ramp, because the man had left a bag in it.

The woman told police as she was approaching, she saw the man walking away with his bag and something in his hand. She said she called to him, but he ran away. Police said George D. Morris, 35, of Cedar Rapids used a rock to break into the car and in the process he cut himself, leaving blood throughout the vehicle's interior and on its exterior. He was later arrested and charged with third-degree burglary.
