Des Moines' Harding Hills Hy-Vee To Host Community Wellness Fair On Friday

Stop by from noon to 6 p.m. Friday for biometric screenings, flu shots, cooking demos, a blood drive and more tips on health and wellness.

DES MOINES, IA — A variety of health information, from medical screenings to nutritional cooking demonstrations, will be offered at a Des Moines Hy-Vee store on Friday. The Harding Hills Hy-Vee, 3330 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, also will host a blood drive in connection with its health and wellness fair.

Hy-Vee's Healthy You Mobile, with the assistance of a dietitian and pharmacists, will be on site to conduct biometric screenings, provide flu vaccinations, share nutritional information and hand out food samples. Other community resource groups also will be present to promote healthy lifestyles and services available to keep you healthy.

The health and wellness fair runs from noon to 6 p.m.

The mobile blood donation bus from Lifeserve will have a blood drive and all blood donors will receive a free gift from Hy-Vee. Lifeserve said the need for blood donation is at an all-time high following hurricanes that have affected parts of the U.S.

The local blood donation center is responsible for stocking area hospitals with enough blood for patients, but Lifeserve also is helping provide blood to communities affected by the hurricanes until the blood donation centers in those areas are back up and running.
