Des Moines Seeks Community Input For New Stormwater Master Plan

Des Moines, Iowa — The City of Des Moines Public Works Department wants to hear from the community to help identify and better respond to stormwater problems. Des Moines Public Works is developing a city-wide Stormwater Master Plan to proactively direct solutions to the City’s flooding and water quality challenges, within budgetary constraints.

Community members can let the City know about their concerns through two surveys: one to report historical stormwater problems, and another to share experiences with stormwater services. You can fill out the surveys by going to the Stormwater Survey website.

"“The City strives to gain community input to the City-wide SMP, leading to a collaborative City stormwater management program," Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie said. "Everyone is impacted by stormwater problems on a local, regional, and watershed scale. Your participation in the survey will help inform Des Moines Public Works about how stormwater problems affect you and your community, and how we can better address them.”
