Donna and Bill Bistrican Hosts Operation Homefront Donation Drive

Iowa Realtors Donna and Bill Bistrican, of Keller Williams, host baby supplies drive for Operation Homefront's Star-Spangled Babies program.

Welcoming a new baby to the family is exciting, but it can be tough for first time parents if finances are tight and your service member is deployed. Operation Homefront's Star-Spangled Babies program provides these new and expectant parents with early childhood education tips, baby supplies, and a support system when loved ones are far away, making it easier for service members and their growing families to welcome their newest addition.

The Bistricans are hosting a fundraiser for the program from March 1 to April 1. Items needed, which can be dropped off at 4001 Westown Pkwy., West Des Moines, IA, include learning and development toys 0-12 months, gyms, jumpers, soothers or sound machines, baby monitors, baby carriers/wraps, teethers, rattlers, stroller toys, push and pull toys, diapers (size 2), wipes, diaper cream, lotion, baby shampoo, onesies, blankets and towels.

“Military families deserve to receive exceptional service and care from us, the civilians and communities they are protecting and serving. Any way we can show we appreciate them matters,” said Donna, who served in the Air Force overseas at Bitburg, Germany. “I got so much back from the time I spent serving. I was so grateful to be able to take advantage of the GI bill to buy my first home.”

Operation Homefront is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive — not simply struggle to get by — in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront provides military families with critical financial assistance, transitional and permanent housing and family support services throughout the year to prevent short-term needs from turning into chronic, long-term struggles.

Ninety-two percent of Operation Homefront’s expenditures go directly to programs that support tens of thousands of military families each year. In addition to meeting all of the BBB’s business standards, Operation Homefront has consistently earned high ratings from leading charity rating services, including the Platinum level Transparency Seal from GuideStar.
