Flashboard Removal Rescheduled Due To Weather In Des Moines

Due to forecasted rain on Wednesday, March 24, City of Des Moines will remove flashboards from the Center Street Dam on Friday, March 26.

DES MOINES, IOWA – Due to forecasted rain on Wednesday, March 24, the City of Des Moines will remove flashboards from the Center Street Dam on Friday, March 26 at 7:30 a.m., weather permitting. Boaters on the Des Moines River and at Birdland Marina should be advised that starting the morning of Thursday, March 25, water levels will be lower for 24 to 36 hours.The outflow at the Saylorville Reservoir dam is adjusted so that city staff can walk on the Center Street Dam to install the flashboards. After the removal is complete, the outflow at Saylorville Reservoir dam is adjusted to fill up and elevate the water level by approximately two feet.
