Flashboards To Be Removed From Des Moines River On March 24

The City of Des Moines will be removing flashboards from the Center Street Dam Wednesday, March 24 at 7:30 a.m.

DES MOINES, IOWA — The City of Des Moines will be removing flashboards from the Center Street Dam Wednesday, March 24 at 7:30 a.m., weather permitting. Boaters on the Des Moines River and at Birdland Marina should be advised that starting the afternoon of Tuesday, March 23, water levels will be lower for 24 to 36 hours. The outflow at the Saylorville Reservoir dam is adjusted so that city staff can walk on the Center Street Dam to install the flashboards. After the removal is complete, the outflow at Saylorville Reservoir dam is adjusted to fill up and elevate the water level by approximately two feet.
