Local Business Leaders Elected Officers of Lung Association Board
Today, the American Lung Association in Iowa announced that three local business leaders have been elected as officers of the Local board.
Today, the American Lung Association in Iowa announced that three local business leaders have been elected as officers of the Local Leadership Board of Directors.
The new elected officers are:
- Chair: Arthur Brown, Academic Dean of Health and Public Service at the Des Moines Area Community College, from West Des Moines.
- Vice Chair: Jennifer Tinnermeier, Chief Legal Officer at The Iowa Clinic, from Johnston.
- Nominating Chair: John Bergman, Vice President-Real Estate Management at Hubbell Realty Company, from Urbandale.
The Lung Association’s Local Leadership Board of Directors, which has 14 members, help lead the organization in their mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The purpose of the Board to is raise the Lung Association’s profile in the community, advocate for lung health, and increase resources to fund local programs and services. Board members impact the work of the Association’s programs and services, public policy, research, and revenue generation.

“Arthur, Jennifer and John are incredible assets to our local work at the Lung Association. Their insight and experience is critical to helping us in our mission to save lives by save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease,” said Micki Sandquist, executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to the service of these individuals, we are helping Iowa residents breathe a little easier.”
The Lung Association in Iowa conducts much of its work through fundraisers throughout the year. The organization just held their biggest event of the year, the Fight For Air Climb in Downtown Des Moines, which raised more than $340,000. Additionally, the organization held it’s LUNG FORCE Expo in May, an event that brings patients, caregivers and healthcare providers together to learn more about the latest trends, resources and research surrounding lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension.
