Man Shot Several Times In Des Moines Home Remains Hospitalized

No charges have been filed against the woman who admitted to police that she shot 58-year-old Scott Thompson.

DES MOINES, IA — Officials are holding off for now on filing charges against a woman who called police Monday to report she had shot her boyfriend. The victim, meanwhile, remains hospitalized this morning.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek said the victim, Scott Thompson, 58, called 911 shortly before 6 p.m. Monday and reported he had been shot by his girlfriend. Police went to the home at 1831 12th St. and found Thompson has been shot several times. He was transported to Mercy Hospital Medical Center.

They next received a call from the woman, admitting she was the shooter. She was interviewed at the home by detectives, who later consulted with the Polk County Attorney's Office before deciding not to file charges yet. Authorities did not indicate why that decision was made.
