Getting a healthy start to a new school year is important for every student. And for students participating in athletics, a physical exam is required.

Add to that COVID-19 and the importance of everyone getting vaccinated in order to put the pandemic behind us once and for all, this summer is a critical time for parents and guardians to consider the health needs of their children as next school year quickly approaches.

Thanks to our partners at Des Moines University and the Polk County Health Department, families have two opportunities to meet these needs in July.

DMU is once again offering two days of walk-in back-to-school physicals

  • Thursday, July 22, 12-5 PM
  • Friday, July 23, 12-4 PM

In addition, the Polk County Health Department will be on hand to provide COVID-19 vaccinations (at the time of this writing, people age 12 and over are eligible for the vaccine).
