Powerball: Winning Numbers For $460 Million Jackpot

Here are the winning numbers for the Jan. 3 Powerball drawing.

DES MOINES, IA — The first Powerball jackpot for 2018 climbed to $460 million Wednesday after no one held a winning ticket in Saturday's drawing.

Here are the winning numbers for the Wednesday drawing: 2, 18, 37, 39 and 42, and the Powerball number is 12.

The next Powerball drawing is on Saturday; the jackpot will be at least $550 million.

The cash value of the jackpot on Wednesday stood at $291 million — and it increases to $347.9 million for the next drawing. Powerball numbers are drawn every Wednesday and Saturday. The jackpot grows when no one holds a ticket with the winning numbers.

Tickets may be purchased until 8:59 p.m. on drawing night. The game costs $2, or $3 if adding the Power Play option.

The record in the Powerball jackpot was a $1.6 billion drawing in January 2016, which was won by a couple from Tennessee.

Unclaimed tickets

Five winning Powerball tickets sold in Iowa in 2017 remain unclaimed and prize money will be forfeited if not claimed within 365 days of the drawing. The most recent was a $1 million ticket sold at Kum n Go in Colfax on Dec. 30.

Three people hold unclaimed $50,000 winning tickets, including two bought last month. One was sold Dec. 16 at Casey's in Monona and one on Dec. 30 at ND Express in Iowa City. The final $50,000 winner was sold at Casey's in Fort Madison on June 10. A $1,000 Powerball ticket was sold March 1 at Floyd Food and Fuel in Sioux City.
