“We are very pleased to officially welcome Officer Holtry to our department as a sworn member,” said Police Chief Dennis McDaniel. “Holtry is already a familiar face within the community as she previously served as a Community Service Officer. Since joining the department, Holtry has demonstrated a strong commitment to professionalism and public service and is eager to serve. Her prior outstanding performance led to an opportunity for consideration as a sworn police officer. We are excited to see her step up to these new challenges and opportunities within our Field Operations Division.”
The Johnston Police Department hired Officer Holtry as a civilian Community Service Officer (CSO) in the summer of 2019. In February 2021, she was appointed as a probationary police officer. In March 2021, she began attending Hawkeye Community College's Level II police academy, and on Friday, May 21, she graduated with her Iowa Law Enforcement Academy certification. Officer Holtry has already begun field training.
