The Iowa State Fire Marshal Division has issued a burn ban in Polk County, effective at 6 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2021. Despite the rain that fell over the weekend, much of Iowa is still in a drought, including almost all of Polk County in a "Severe Drought" according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Â This creates dangerous conditions for people and property should open burning get out of control. Â For these reasons, a burn ban will be in effect for Polk County until conditions improve.Â
