Polk County Sheriff's deputies are still trying to piece together a seemingly under-the-radar gathering of some 300 people near a strip club on the outskirts of Des Moines, which erupted in gunfire and left one man dead early Sunday morning.
The Des Moines Register reports more than 300 people gathered at an unplanned event, likely through word-of-mouth, across three properties, including Big Earl's Gold Mine and Quick Trip.

The gunfire rang out roughly between 3:20 and 3:30 a.m., the newspaper reports.
At least one of those shots struck Reginald Renard Bryan Jr., 23, of Florida. He died later at a Des Moines hospital, police said.

The Polk County Medical Examiner officially ruled the death a homicide Monday.
A second victim, Matthew Millsap, 24, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. A third party drove him a hospital where police spoke to him.
Authorities are asking those with information to come forward or contact Polk County Crime Stoppers.
