Grimes Sweet Corn Stand Opens in Johnston
The long wait is over: sweet corn stands have set up shop in Johnston and around the Des Moines metro.
A summer favorite of many, Grimes sweet corn can now be purchased at a stand along Beaver Drive across from the Johnston Soccer Fields.
Jerry Brown of Des Moines said the sweet corn -- which was delayed by Iowa's cold, wet spring --Â is popular this season.
"We sold out yesterday," Brown said. "The corn is sweet and good."
A dozen ears are $6, half a dozen is $3 and three ears are $1.50.
Along with the ears of sweet corn, jam can be purchsed.
