Johnston Has The Brains In Iowa, Job Site Says
Among Iowa's cities with a population of 10,000 or more, Johnston tops the smarts list; three other metro communities make top 10.

JOHNSTON, IA — An online job site has has given Johnston a ranking it clearly will want to boast about: Iowa's smartest city. The community was found to be the smartest in Iowa with a population of 10,000 or higher by the online job site Zippia.
Determining smarts makes sense for people looking for a job and businesses seeking a potential location, Zippia says, because "one of the many qualities that people look for in a potential location or company is the intelligence of those around them. This factor can play a huge role in one's experience at a particular company and can make or break an employee's time there."
To rank a city's level of intelligence, the company used census data and studied things like high school dropout rate (non-existent in Johnston) and percentage of residents with a college degree (almost 60 percent for Des Moines' northern neighbors). Four metro-area cities made the top ten list, which ranked Iowa's 39 most populated communities:
