Johnston Officials Studying Needs for Bus Route
A public meeting on Nov. 29 will allow residents to address concerns or suggest changes to DART Route 5 in Johnston.

JOHNSTON, IA — The bus route along Merle Hay Road and into adjacent neighborhoods of Johnston was changed less than two months ago and city officials want to know whether additional improvements are needed. They will gather input from residents and bus riders at a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at City Hall, 6221 Merle Hay Road.
City officials worked with the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) to extend Route 5 service beginning Oct. 2. The changes provide more frequent trips and a greater opportunity for residents and workers to use public transportation in and around Johnston and throughout the metro area.
Now officials are studying whether continued improvements can be made to the route, with a target date of Feb. 2018 for additional changes.
