Johnston Police Blotter Rewind: Homeland Security Scam, Stolen Car

The Johnston Police Department investigated a number of calls March 4 and March 10. Take a look at the reports.

Dates below are when the incident was reported or occurred, not when an arrest or charges were filed. Charges do not always result in convictions. All individuals listed below are innocent until proven guilty.

March 4
A 43-year-old man reported a vehicle had hit and destroyed his mailbox and post.

Casey's, 5340 Northwest Beaver Drive, reported a gas drive off.

March 5
Michael Burns, 44, and Bret Roberts, 45, were cited for dog running at large.

March 6
Corey Kautz, 36, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and cited for speeding.

Officers made a report of vehicle damaging traffic signs.

March 7
Jennifer Reasoner, 35, was arrested for driving while barred and cited for insufficient number of headlamps.

A 27-year-old man reported being scammed by someone claiming to be from Homeland Security requiring money.

March 8
A 13-year-old boy reported a theft from his locker at Johnston Middle School. A male subject was identified and returned the item. Parents of the victim did not want to press charges.

Taner Burns, 18, and Augustin Beebe, 18, were charged with possession with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug tax stamp violation.

March 9
An 18-year-old man was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

March 10
A 42-year-old man reported his vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of Doc's Lounge. Witnesses describe a white man who appeared intoxicated took the vehicle.

Youth Homes of Mid America reported a runaway. The juvenile returned on his own later that night.
