Johnston Seeks Resident's Feedback on Merle Hay Road Redevelopment Plan
An open house will hosted on March 26 to gather feedback.

From the City of Johnston:
The Johnston City Council has recently retained the services of AECOM and Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. (HKGi) to conduct a market analysis and redevelopment plan for the Merle Hay Road Gateway Area.Â
The Gateway Area is defined as generally south of NW 55th Avenue along both sides of Merle Hay Road to Interstate 35/80.

As one of only two gateways into the City from Interstate-35/80, this area is a recognizable and critical area of the City, thus this planning effort is being done to ensure the area is developed in a manner that maximizes the potential of the area.Â
The plan will explore the development/redevelopment potential of vacant and underutilized parcels within the corridor, identify target uses/markets, explore existing challenges to development and develop implementation strategies the City and/or property owners can undertake to facilitate implementation of the plan.Â

The City is currently soliciting feedback and input on ideas for future development in the corridor and welcomes any thoughts or suggestions.
Since the planning effort began last fall, AECOM has completed a preliminary market analysis which identifies the market constraints and possibilities; a copy of the analysis is available on the City website, www.cityofjohnston.com.Â
Additionally, following input from many property owners and stakeholders in the corridor HKGi has prepared three preliminary redevelopment concepts for which we are currently seeking feedback.Â
To review and provide feedback on the redevelopment concepts, the City will be hosting a public open house where the three redevelopment concepts will be on display and staff and the consulting team will be available to answer questions.Â
The open house will take place at 6 p.m. on March 26 at Johnston Public Library.
