Johnston to Host Healthiest State Initiative Event

We invite you to join the City of Johnston for one of Iowa's largest events marking the Healthiest State Initiative.  Come join us on Wednesday, October 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crown Point Community Center, and join hundreds of people from the Johnston community celebrating healthy living.

Johnston wants to help Governor Terry Branstad take Iowa from being the ninth healthiest state in the nation to being THE healthiest state in the nation.

Employees from Dupont Pioneer, Iowa Public Television, John Deere Financial, Johnston Schools, Johnston Partnership for a Healthy Community, Child Serve, HyVee and Iowa National Guard will all be there, among many others.

Beginning at 11:15 am are a 5K run, 2 mile walk, and 1K walk.

A dozen vendors will be onsite doing everything from serving healthy food to administering flu shots.
