Authorities are investigating a dead body found in rural Polk County, KCCI reports.
The TV station cites a spokeswoman for the Polk County Sheriff's Department saying the department is in the middle of its investigation of the man's body, which was found by a friend.
Deputies and the Polk County Medical Examiner are on the scene in a rural area off Northeast 166th Avenue about 7 miles southeast of Cambridge near the Polk and Story county line.
The Des Moines Register reports there were no signs of foul play, citing the Sheriff's Sgt. Jana Aben.
The friend appears to have been in the field looking for the person, Abens said. The location of the body is unusual, but she said police haven’t found signs of foul play.
The body was found near the intersection of Northeast 120th Street and Northeast 166th Avenue, Abens said.
