Toddler Dies After She Was Pulled From Big Creek State Park Water

Now, the family is asking for help paying for the girl's funeral. A GoFundMe account has been created.

POLK CITY, IA — Authorities have identified a 2-year-old Perry girl who died days after being pulled from the water Big Creek State Park. Celeste Sandoval-Ramos was with her family Saturday night when she was pulled from the water, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Deputies were sent to the Big Creek Beach around 8:45 p.m. for a possible drowning. When they got there, rescuers were performing life-saving measures on the girl.

The toddler was airlifted to a hospital and died on Tuesday morning, the office said.

No charges are pending and an investigation remains ongoing, Lt. Rich Blaylock told Patch.

Now, the family is asking for help paying for the girl's funeral. A GoFundMe account has been created by the girl's aunt to help the parents. As of Wednesday afternoon, the account had raised more than $800.
