Wandering Dog Odie Returned to Owner Thanks to Johnston City Workers
A Johnston soldier spent several days searching for his missing dog, which he rescued in Afghanistan, only to be reunited with his buddy by city workers.

An Iowa National Guard soldier was reunited Friday with his best buddy thanks to Johnston city employees.
Sgt. Brian Van Vleet's dog, Odie, broke its leash Tuesday night and the soldier spent all night searching for his pal near their Johnston apartment complex. Odie is no ordinary pooch, he was adopted by Van Vleet in Afghanistan, went on patrol with his unit and was later brought to Iowa.
After KCCI aired a story about the missing dog Thursday night, the TV station received calls from employees of the Johnston Public Works Department who said Odie was at the city pound.
