As communicated in previous updates, the closing of 12th Street means 11th Street will be opening to north/south traffic. It is anticipated that this intersection will be open by the end of the week. Please be advised that this intersection will split an active construction zone. Drivers in the area are asked to use caution.

  • 10th Street Closing

On Thursday, 10th Street will be closed between 6th & 7th Avenue for a new asphalt overlay. This closure is anticipated to last only 1 day. 6th Avenue (west) at 10th Street will remain open to traffic.

  • Completed Projects

Elsewhere in the project, the sidewalk adjacent to the library parking lot was completed this week. Irrigation and drain tile was installed behind the Marion Square Plaza.

The four foot sidewalk behind the mall was also completed for business access.

In the 12th Street intersection, storm sewer installation was completed in the west half of the street.

Brick installation behind the curbs continues in the 1000 block. Workers with Culvers plan to begin placing brick in the street this week after the asphalt bedding is paved on Thursday.

The arms to the traffic signals are now hung at 10th Street. Other progress planned for the next week includes paving the primary sidewalk on the north side of the 1100 block and placement of top soil in the 11th Street infiltration beds. Work is now underway in Stages 2-4.

Work will begin later this week in Stage 5. Contractors have used approximately 83 of the allowed 100 working days. Project work is not expected to be complete within the contract time. Liquidated damages will be assessed for time to complete the work in excess of the specified limits.
