16-Year-Old Driver Flown to Hospital for Treatment After Flipping Vehicle on Highway 13

The driver does not appear to have suffered life threatening injuries after his accident this morning, according to authorities.


A 16-year-old Prairieburg resident was rushed by emergency responders for treatment this morning after he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to cross over into the median and flip onto its roof, trapping him inside.

At about 7:42 a.m. this morning officers responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 13 just north of Burnett Station Road. 

Deputies arrived to find a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Brady Vanamburg, 16, of Prairieburg had been southbound on Highway 13 when he lost control of the vehicle, travelled through the median where his vehicle overturned coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lanes of Highway 13. Vanamburg was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel on scene.

Vanamburg was flown to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries. Vanamburg was wearing
his safety belt at the time of the accident.

Highway 13 northbound was closed due to this accident until roughly 9:10 a.m. this morning.

The Central City Fire Department, Northeast Linn Ambulance, Center Point Ambulance, Lifeguard Air Ambulance, Linn County Rescue 57, and Linn County Deputies all responded to the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
