Alliant Said Utility Bills Up This Month, Here's Where to Go For Help

Alliant Energy is reporting higher-than-average bills for the month of June, here's where you can go for financial assistance to help with your utility bill.

Bearing with this summer’s intense heat was more than enough for most of us, but the thought of paying for the enormous amount of air conditioning we used is daunting.

Alliant Energy reported to the Cedar Rapids Gazette that its bills for the month of June had risen 5 percent over last year.

This can be troublesome for everyone, but for some low-income residents, it may be financially unbearable.

Jim Zachar from the Cedar Rapids charity the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, said the facility has seen "dozens" of new people apply for assistance with their high utility bills. 

However that charity, like a few others in the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area, can offer relief to low-income residents.
