Attempted Murder and Other Charges Filed in Stabbing, Robbery of 72-Year-Old
Cedar Rapids Police have filed charges against Theodore Gathercole II. They say he stabbed and robbed 72-year-old Frederick Rottmiller.
From Cedar Rapids Police:
On June 16, 2013, at 3:49 am, the Cedar Rapids Police responded to Park Ct and 2 Ave SE to investigate an assault. Officers found Frederick Rottmiller/72, of Cedar Rapids, had been stabbed. Rottmiller was taken to a local hospital.
Through their investigation, Cedar Rapids Police arrested Theodore Gathercole II, 8-28-61, 112 Park Ct SE #3. Gathercole has been charged with Attempted Murder, Robbery 1st, and Willful Injury. During the robbery, Rottmiller stabbed Gathercole several times, causing serious injury. Gathercole was transported to Linn County Jail. Rottmiller’s condition is not being released at this time.
