Back to School Sales Tax Holiday Begins Aug. 2
Back to School: No sales tax will be collected on select clothing and footwear Friday Aug. 2 and Saturday Aug. 3.

Iowa's Sales Tax holiday is here. By law, no sales tax will at select stores will be collected on select clothing and footwear on Friday, Aug. 2 and Saturday, Aug. 3.
Than means a savings of up to 7 percent here in Linn County. The exemption only applies to clothing and shoes that cost less than $100 per item. And some odd rules apply. Shoes without cleats are exempt, shoes with cleats are taxable.
Any store that is open from today at 12 a.m. Aug. 2 to 12 a.m. Aug. 4 has to participate.
