Braley Introduces Bill to Regulate Radon, Second Leading Cause of Lung Cancer
Iowa Congressman Bruce Braley, facing off against Republican Ben Lange in November, has introduced a bill aimed to reduce radon exposure.

Iowa is known for having a lot of radon, an orderless gaseous by-product of our agricultural economy that puts us at greater risk for lung cancer.
Iowa Rep. Bruce Braley, a Democrat from Waterloo in District 1, has introduced legislation to help schools mitigate the risks involved in radon exposure, according to Braley's government website.
The bill would give schools with high risk of radon exposure federal grants to help measure levels of radon, in addition to grants that for mitigation of radon, should the levels be high.

The Democrat spoke about the bill Monday when he visited North Cedar Elementary School in Cedar Falls, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
"I'm very proud to have introduced this bill," Braley said, according to the Courier. "We're going to be working to develop bi-partisan support because when it comes to taking care of kids, I don't think that's a partisan issue."Â

The gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, according to the EPA.
