Cedar Rapids Man Hurt in Motorcycle Accident

The man, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was injured after sliding off the road and into a nearby ditch.

At about 8:35 a.m. this morning the Palo Fire Department, Hiawatha Ambulance, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Rescue 57 and Linn County Deputies were sent to East Shellsburg Road and the Benton County Line for a motorcycle in the ditch.  

Deputies arrived to find that Jarod McVay, 29, of Cedar Rapids had been eastbound on a 2002 Suzuki GSF1200 when he lost control of the motorcycle sliding into the north ditch.  McVay was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids by Hiawatha Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.  McVay was cited by Deputies for Driving while barred, No Insurance, Failure to have Control, and Improper Registration.  

McVay was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
